Information-Theoretic Interpretations of Quantum Mechanics<\/em> is a two day workshop\u00a0taking place June 11-12, 2016 at Western University in London, Ontario, Canada. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada<\/a>, the Rotman Institute of Philosophy<\/a>, the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics<\/a>, the Institute for Quantum Computing<\/a> at University of Waterloo, and Research Western.<\/p>\n

This is the 20th annual UWO philosophy of physics conference. Information about past conferences can be found here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The workshop is inspired by Jeffrey Bub’s recently published\u00a0book Bananaworld: Quantum Mechanics for Primates<\/a><\/em> (Oxford University Press). The workshop will bring together diverse views on issues raised by and related to Professor Bub’s work on developing an information-theoretic interpretation of quantum theory.<\/p>\n

The workshop will consist of six sessions, one of which will be a special session dedicated to Professor Bub\u2019s new book. After leading off this special session with a summary of his book, Professor Bub will then yield the floor to a distinguished panel of commentators: Leah Henderson (Groningen), Allen Stairs (Maryland), and Christopher Timpson (Oxford), who will present their views\u00a0on Professor Bub’s interpretation. In addition to the special session, the workshop will include other sessions dedicated to further topics related to information theoretic interpretations of quantum mechanics.<\/p>\n

The workshop will be preceded by a graduate student conference, the 16th Annual Philosophy of Logic, Math and Physics (LMP) Graduate Student Conference<\/a>.<\/p>\n
