Instead of regarding its laws as purely physical laws, researchers are increasingly treating the theory as a theory about how agents, such as ourselves, can use information about a physical system as a resource for extracting useful work from the system. Seen this way, investigations into the thermodynamics of quantum systems have a deep connection with work in Quantum Information Theory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This interdisciplinary workshop that brings together philosophers and physicists to explore the philosophical and foundational implications of the resource-theoretic turn in thermodynamics.<\/p>\n<p>The workshop will take place June 20-22, at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario, Canada, in North Campus Building Room 114.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-335\" src=\"http:\/\/philphysics.uwo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/map-300x143.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"801\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/philphysics.uwo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/map-300x143.jpg 300w, https:\/\/philphysics.uwo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/map-768x365.jpg 768w, https:\/\/philphysics.uwo.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/map.jpg 1003w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 801px) 85vw, 801px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This event will be live streamed on June 21 &#8211; 22.
